SUB : WIDENING THE BREADTH OF MAIN ROADS IN THE VILLAGES INCLUDED IN PUNE CITY IN TERMS OF PROVISIONS OF SECTION 210(1)(B) OF BOMBAY PROVINCIAL MUNICIPAL CORPORATIONS ACT.
Draft Development Plan of 23 villages newly included within the limits of Pune Municipal Corporation has been submitted to the Government of Maharashtra on 31/12/2005. Government of Maharashtra vide its Resolution No. TPS-71806/2125/P.K.1193/2008/NV-13 dated 17/05/2008 has granted its approval to reserve the land out of Gat Nos. 2 to 10 for the purposes of roads, water filtration and drainage water filtration centers as provided in the draft development plan. For planning of Gat No. 1, Baner, and part of Balewadi in the draft development plan, the layout thereof has been approved under Sec. 31(1) of M.R.T.P. Act, 1966, by the Government of Maharashtra vide its Resolution No.TPS-1807/39/P.K.1017/07/NV-13 dated 13/8/2008.
After taking actions as aforesaid and with due consideration to the growing development of Pune City and in accordance therewith increasing traffic, it is necessary to widen the breadth of the main roads in the newly included 23 villages and main D.P. Roads shown in the Development Plan. For taking necessary action in that behalf, Hon. Guardian Minister, Pune District and Irrigation Minister, State of Maharashtra has issued orders. Since the draft development plan has not yet been finally approved, vide Reference No. 1, requisite plan and proposal along with report is submitted to the Hon. Government of Maharashtra for widening the breadth on both sides of the roads having more than 12 mtr. breadth in the new villages as per the aforesaid order.
In furtherance of the said proposal, in the meeting with the Hon. Chief Minister, Maharashtra State on 1/7/2010, vide Reference No.3 orders are issued to Pune Municipal Corporation under Section 37(1) of M.R.T.P. Act to take necessary actions for widening the breadth of all the main roads.
A point to take action under Sec. 210(1)(B) of Bombay Provincial Municipal Corporations Act 1949 instead of taking action under Sec. 37(1) of the M.R.T.P. Act, 1966 with regard to the widening of the main roads shown in the D.P. Plan of newly included 23 villages was raised before the Hon. Standing Committee vide Reference No.4. It would be helpful for reducing the future traffic pressure if the roads are widened in one and half multiple as aforesaid.
